Aresene Tanguy
Barrel Racing
Arsene Tanguy
was born in France and moved to the Petrolia area. He
has been winning Barrel Racing championships since 1990
across Ontario, Quebec and USA.
Despite being told to stop riding horses after being
diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1994, Tanguy still
continues to barrel race almost every weekend.
One of the major highlights for Arsene and his horse
"Separate Rivers" was in 1996 when he won the National Horse
Racing Association (NBHA) Senior 1-D World Championship in
Augusta, Georgia. His winning time stood for three
years and to this date is the only Canadian to accomplish
this.
Tanguy and Separate Rivers
were also the 1996 and 1997 Ontario Sweepstakes Champions.
His mare passed away in 2009 at the age of 23.
